Siraya National Scenic Area Headquarters

Kargyu Monastery is a white sect Tibetan Buddhist temple of the Karma Kargyu lineage. It was funded by the only local Rinpoche, Karma Tendzin Thargye in 1986. Different from other temples originating from the central plane, various halls in Kargyu Temple are blended with the beauty of Sino-Tibetan architecture, with splendid colors and extraordinary ornaments.

The monastery was built like the petals of a lotus flower, overlapping in multiple layers. Osmanthus fragrans were planted along the road to fill the whole mountain with a pleasant fragrance through all the seasons of the year.

The main architecture, Dharmaraja Hall, a blend the characteristic of Sino-Tibetan aesthetics, was constructed precisely to display the divine beauty. The main 16 meters high Golden Brass statue of the Teaching Sakyamuni Buddha, along with seven Buddhas, and a mandala plafond are three of the most attractive Tibetan artifacts in Kargyu Monastery. Among the rich collection of Buddhist artifacts in the monastery, the majority are Buddha's portraits including murals, tangka, color paintings, wood sculptures, bronze sculptures, clay sculptures, rock carvings and more.

These artworks made with exquisite details should be the legacy of the world, and have awed visitors and gained great admiration. The total architectural works in the entire mountain include Dharmaraja Hall, Xiangguang Courtyard and Wenju Courtyard, Stupa, Cave of the God of Wealth, Osmanthus fragrans forest and so on, like shinning pearls beaded along the hillside incessantly for 22 years.
