When the northeast monsoon blows and the cold front arrives, the plum blossoms in Meiling Scenic Area will slowly bloom, gradually covering the entire Meiling with a blanket of snow-like white plum blossoms when viewed from afar.

The plum trees in Meiling were introduced and planted by the Japanese during the Japanese colonial period. These carefully selected plum trees were planted in Meiling due to its ideal climate. After World War II, as the Japanese were unable to uproot and take these plum trees with them, the trees were transferred to the Taiwanese people for cultivation. Upon receiving these plum trees, Taiwanese farmers, who have long been known for their exceptional cultivation skills, not only managed to nurture them to produce large flowers and abundant fruit but also succeeded in creating new plum varieties with thin skin, thick flesh, and a juicy texture. Taiwanese plum farmers then brought these new varieties to sell them in Japan. When visiting Meiling to relish the beauty of plums, do not forget the famous "Plum Chicken", a renowned local dish made of plums and free-range chicken.
