The ”2023 Chilled Summer in Siraya – Guanziling Summer Festival Mountain Car Ceremony” will kick off on July 22 and continue until August 13! The Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (hereinafter referred to as the Administration) held a press conference today at the Guanziling Lingding Travel Information Station today (July 12). Director of the Administration Hsu Chen-neng; the offices of Legislators Lai Hui-yuan and Chen Ting-fei; Deputy CEO of Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Joint Services Center, Executive Yuan Liu Mi-shan; the offices of Tainan City Councilor Tsai Yu-hui, Chang Shih-hsien, Li Chung-han, Shen Chia-feng, and Chao Kun-yuan; Chief Secretary of Tourism Bureau, Tainan City Government Lu Cheng-yi; Senior Engineer of Agriculture Bureau, Tainan City Government Chou Chih-hsun; Director of Baihe District, Tainan City Tung Li-hua; Chairman of Travel Agent Association of R.O.C Hsiao Po-ren; Chairman of Taiwan Tourism and Leisure Industry Association Weng Ting-fang; Chairman of Tainan Hot Spring Association Lin Hsien-tang; Chairman of Tainan Association of Travel Agent Tsai Cheng-hung; Chairman of Tainan Chamber of Commerce Wu Chun-tai; Vice Chairman of Tainan Association of Travel Agent Li Ming-fei; Chairman of the Guanziling Huo Wangye Temple Committee Chou Cheng-chung; and representatives of associations from the tourism industry of Siraya in Tainan all attended this grand event to unveil the Guanziling Summer Mountain Car Ceremony! We welcome all of you to come to Guanziling and join the most “chilled” summer party.
This year, the Administration has specially extended the duration of the “Guanziling Summer Festival Mountain Car Ceremony” to one month. This event starts from July 22 and ends on August 13, and it is arranged with four themes of activities that invite all of you to experience it.
Theme 1: Siraya Cup – The Love of Guanziling Music Competition
This grand event will kick off with the “Siraya Cup - The Love of Guanziling Music Competition” on the first day on July 22. With the time-honored “The Love of Guanziling” as the designated piece, participants are invited to express their impressions of Guanziling through musical performances or singing. The top three performers from each group will receive cash prizes of NT$10,000, NT$8,000, and NT$5,000, respectively."
Theme 2: The Retro Japanese Nakashi Music
During the Japanese domination period, Guanziling Hot Spring Area was reputed as Taiwan’s No. 1 hot spring. This year, Guanziling Hot Spring Area has specially launched Japan’s retro Nakashi Music. Those who come to Guanziling to dine on the weekends of from July 22 to August 13 will have the opportunity to witness the Nakashi music. You can enjoy delicacies while listening to the music performance, having a great dining time.
Theme 3: Guanziling Summer Festival Mountain Car Ceremony – The Mountain Car Pulling and Blessing Activity
The captivating “Guanziling Summer Festival Mountain Car Ceremony - The Mountain Car Pulling and Blessing Activity” will be launched at 14:00 on August 11. On the day of the event, the drum team is invited to lead the parade, and the thundering drum sounds symbolize the abundant blessings of Huo Wangye (also known as the “Immovable Lord”) that circulate around the Guanziling Area. Additionally, there will be super energetic performances and dinosaur cosplayers joining the parade to interact with the crowd, creating an atmosphere akin to a grand summer festival!
This year, the parade supply station has prepared Baihe Yu Hsueh popsicles, allowing everyone to cool off from the summer heat. At the destination, there is also an ice shop selling shaved ice topped with Yujing mango, offering you the chance to enjoy local refreshing treats and have a relaxing hot spring bath during the summer days! As a reward for those who travel with the mountain car parade, the first 200 participants who complete the mountain car pulling activity will be offered ice treats and have the opportunity to experience the public hot spring bath at Reikei Hot Spring Resort. Tainan Hot Spring Association has even launched a special voucher, providing visitors the opportunity to enjoy both delicious bucket chicken at designated restaurants and the super chilled hot spring at the Mountain Car Ceremony. You are welcome to share this special offer with your good friends and register for the activity together! Additionally, when you stay at a designated hotel during the event period, you will also receive a “Chilled Summer” lottery ticket. Theme 4: Summer Fun Market
On the weekends from July 22 to August 13, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the “Summer Fun Market” will take place on the front plaza of Guanziling Lingding Travel Information Station (Dacheng Hall). With a Japanese-style party atmosphere, this market not only features street performers and artists but also showcases products from local farmers. People from all over Taiwan are invited to come to Guanziling and experience this delightful and entertaining summer festival. Additionally, the market has a special collaboration with the “2023 Lotus Season - The Good Morning Market” organized by Beihe District Office to launch a special event on July 29. You can join the walking activity, visit the markets, and then enjoy the performance of street performers in front of Dacheng Hall on that day.
Director Hsu Cheng-neng expressed that the second highlight of the "Chilled Summer in Siraya" event is about to take the stage! Guanziling, with its hundred years of charm dating back to the Japanese domination period until today, became known through the song “Love of Guanziling”! Director Hsu expressed his gratitude to Tainan Hot Spring Association for creating the inspiring events "The Love of Guanziling Music Competition" and "Retro Nakashi Music" through collaboration with the local tourism sector. Director Hsu said that these events create a sense of anticipation and also expressed his expectation that, through the music, people will be able to experience the bustling scene and charm of Guanziling in the past! Designed with the cooling and heat relieving concepts, the Guanziling Summer Mountain Car Ceremony of this year has added the elements of the popsicles of Baihe and shaved ice topped with Yujing mango to bring a refreshing summer to everyone. Besides, those who join the mountain car pulling activity can also go to the Reikei Hot Spring Resort to experience the public hot spring bath on the event day to relive the fatigue from pulling the mountain car and enjoy the delicious bucket chicken cuisine at a designated restaurant!
