The Siraya National Scenic Area Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as the Headquarters), under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), has been holding the “Siraya Grassland Festival” for four consecutive years. The press conference, incorporated with elements of the “Fur Baby Fashion Show” and Hot Air Balloon Festival, was held today (on the 21st) at the Guantian Visitor Center. Director of the Headquarters Hsu Cheng-neng; Section Chief of the Central Weather Administration, MOTC, Chin Hsin-lung; Chief Secretary of the Bureau of Tourism, Tainan City Government, Cheng Dao-li; Director of Guantian District, Tainan City, Hung Tsong-fa; Director of Liujia District, Tainan City, Chen Chi-jung; the office of Legislator Kuo Kuo-wen; the office of Legislator Chen Ting-fei; the office of Legislator Lin Chun-hsien; the office of Councilor Chen Chiu-hung; the office of Councilor Wu Tung-lung; the office of Councilor Yu Jung-chih; Chairman Hung Chung-yuan from the Hotel Association of R.O.C.; Chairman Weng Ting-fang from the Taiwan Tourism and Leisure Industry Association; Chairman Lin Hsien-tang from the Tainan City Siraya Tourism Industry Association; Chairman of the Tainan City Hotel Business Association, Wu Chun-tai; Chairman of the Chiayi City Hotel Business Association, Li Chi-kuang; and other association and industry representatives have all attended this event to unveil the Siraya Grassland Festival!
This year, apart from extending the upsurge of the hot air balloon, the Headquarters has collaborated with the Central Weather Administration, MOTC, and integrated local tourism and accommodation resources to give back to the public. People staying at partner stores of the Siraya Grassland Festival during the event period will have the chance to win a hot air balloon tethered ride valued at NT$500. Furthermore, the Headquarters is also hosting the "Fur Baby DIY" and relay race to welcome people to join the Festival.
Director of the Headquarters, Hsu Cheng-neng, stated that the Siraya Guantian Visitor Center has a vast 11-ha grassland situated in a convenient location with fully equipped facilities. Last year, for the first time, it hosted the Hot Air Balloon Festival and Light Projection Music Concert. It successfully attracted nearly 20,000 visitors to witness its charm and brought about impressive economic benefits, making it the largest-scale event seen in the past decade! This year, apart from extending the "Hot Air Balloon" theme, the Headquarters specially invited the Central Weather Administration to set up a real-time meteorological observation instrument. This rarely seen meteorological observation instrument can observe the weather conditions at high altitude, on the ground, and in the atmosphere profiles to ensure the safety of the hot air balloon ascension and the success of this event. This is also the first event after the Tourism Bureau signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Central Weather Administration. The Central Weather Administration also expressed that it would provide unique broadcasting before the hot air balloon ascension. An additional event offering an operational experience with 5 meteorological unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be held in the afternoon. Adults and children are welcome to join and experience operating these UAVs together.
During the first week of the Siraya Grassland Festival on April 20 and 21, not only will the hot air balloon tethered rides be offered, but there will also be various events held on the grassland. The Headquarters has specially organized two music festivals themed on hip hop and independent music, and has invited AMILI, Lin Chieh-hsin, anti-talent, Shadow Project, Over The Top, Human Hart, Theseus, Night Keepers to take turns performing, bringing everyone a variety of “get hyped” songs in different styles. The Headquarters has also specially arranged a hot air balloon light projection music concert on the event opening day (April 20) between 18:40 to 20:00. The ever-changing lights, hot air balloons, and pressurized flame, accompanied by the rhythm of music and the surrounding laser effects, will entice people to dance throughout the venue, creating a dazzling array of color changes. Apart from enjoying the adorable mini "Oh Bear" hot air balloon, visitors can also indulge in the performance by Musicians' House, the winner of the silver award at the World Music Awards. It is a grand event that you should not miss.
During the second week of the Siraya Grassland Festival on April 27 and 28, the event will be themed around fur babies. Activities such as a fur baby fun sports event, a fur baby fashion show, and DIY fresh food for fur babies will be organized. Moreover, there will be a series of family performances, including a storytelling session by Meizi Sister, Philip Brother's magic balloon show, and performances by the Apple Theater. Visitors can also participate in a relay race with the opportunity to win market consumption coupons and gifts from partner stores.
The Headquarters will also launch experiential tours in collaboration with Qin Qin Travel for this event. This year, the Headquarters has partnered with Joy Machi Tour to organize family tours for fur babies and their parents. Participants will enjoy their journey on an exclusive fur baby bus painted in vibrant colors! Early reservations are highly recommended.
