Siraya Muslim Familiarization Tour Debuts: In-Depth Muslim-Friendly Itinerary Adds a New Highlight to International Hospitality

To tap into the global Muslim travel market, the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Administration, MOTC has been actively developing a Muslim-friendly tourism environment. This year, in addition to continuing to assist 15 local operators, including Jianshanpi Reservoir, Fairy Lake Leisure Farm, and Hotel Cham Cham, with their Muslim certification renewals, the Administration specially organized a "Muslim Familiarization Tour," inviting Muslim travelers from Taiwan, Indonesia, and Malaysia to embark on an immersive two-day, one-night itinerary and experience firsthand Siraya's achievements and distinctive strengths in creating Muslim-friendly environments.
Built around the core concept of "hands-on experience and genuine feedback," the tour invited Muslim travelers residing in Taiwan to take part in a full program covering accommodation, dining, transportation, and activities, offering an in-depth look at the diverse agricultural and tourism landscape of Siraya. Through participants' firsthand perspectives and feedback, the initiative aims to help local operators better understand Muslim travelers' needs and cultural practices, serving as an important basis for refining service workflows, elevating hospitality standards, and further strengthening the overall international travel experience.
Day one began at THSR Chiayi Station, with the first stop at Baihe's Caodian Community to experience the appeal of the local lotus seed industry, including harvesting lotus seeds, shelling lotus seeds, and tasting lotus seed core tea. The group then headed to Fairy Lake Leisure Farm for a Halal lunch and prayer time, followed by a hands-on workshop making Honggui Guo (Red Turtle Cake). In the afternoon, participants visited Dongxiangmao Coffee Park to taste Dongshan's signature coffee, before checking in that evening at Hotel Cham Cham near Zengwen Reservoir, where they enjoyed a Halal dinner.
The second day began with a Halal breakfast at the hotel. After experiencing Hotel Cham Cham's signature high-altitude walk and zip-line facilities, the group headed to Xiaochong Mango Orchard in Yujing to pick mangoes, then stopped at Youjian Ice Shop to taste local mango shaved ice, showcasing the appeal of Tainan's fruit. At noon, participants enjoyed a Halal lunch at Cafe Wayam, then visited Guantian Visitor Center for prayer and an introduction to the scenic area's resources. The final stop was Jianshanpi Reservoir for a guided lake tour and a Halal dinner, bringing the familiarization itinerary to a successful close.
Hsu Chu-lung, Director of the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Administration, MOTC, stated that building a welcoming and internationally competitive tourism environment is a key development priority. This familiarization tour demonstrated the respect and thoughtful planning that each venue has extended toward Muslim religious needs, and will help refine service quality while amplifying international outreach through participants' social media sharing. Going forward, the Administration will continue to guide more operators in developing Muslim-friendly environments, gradually positioning Siraya as a Muslim travel destination that combines cultural depth with genuine international hospitality.
