Taiwan Railways' major timetable adjustment in July 2026 brought great news! Travelers looking to explore Siraya easily by public transit can now take the Puyuma Express, which stops at Longtian Station for the first time, then step out of the station and transfer seamlessly to the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Lingpo Guantian Line for a one-stop trip to popular attractions along the route! Under the new timetable, the Puyuma services newly stopping at Longtian include northbound No. 178 (arriving at 9:38 a.m.) and southbound No. 171 (arriving at 1:42 p.m.). For the past century, Longtian Station mainly served local trains and some Chu-Kuang Express services. With the addition of Puyuma stops, travel time for passengers from both north and south is greatly reduced, Guantian is easier to reach, and combining Taiwan Railways with the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle has become the fastest new way to discover Guantian!
Longtian Station serves as a key transit hub for the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Lingpo Guantian Line. Now that Puyuma trains stop there, travelers have a faster public transit option. The Siraya National Scenic Area Headquarters launched its "Deep Dive into Lingpo Guantian" themed tour on July 28, and the inaugural group drew many residents from southern Taiwan eager to try it first. Ms. Chen, who took the northbound Puyuma from Kaohsiung City, said excitedly: "Coming to Guantian used to take a lot of time with all the transfers. Now the Puyuma zips me straight to Longtian, and right after getting off I can seamlessly transfer to the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle — it's so convenient! The time I save lets me visit even more attractions. Such great value!"
This itinerary brings travelers to Longtian by Puyuma and then onto the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle. The first stop is Longtian chahcha Educational Cultural Park, where guided tours introduce the local history of the Jianan Plain in depth. Lunch is arranged at Mian Gong Fang, a popular local eatery known for its signature flavors. After the meal, travelers visit the Han Pao-Teh Memorial Museum at Tainan National University of the Arts to take in its elegant architecture and artistic atmosphere. They then head to Wushantou Reservoir for a boat tour on Coral Lake, enjoying views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The final stop is the Guantian Visitor Center, home to an 11-hectare grassland, where visitors can see Tabe! Tabe! By connecting Taiwan Railways with the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle, travelers arriving at Longtian can easily reach attractions along the route, including Wushantou Reservoir, Guantian Visitor Center and Jianshanpi Resort, making Longtian a key starting point for exploring the Siraya National Scenic Area.
Beyond this themed tour, the Siraya National Scenic Area Headquarters has also launched several Lingpo Guantian Line travel packages. Options include "Sailing Toward Happiness – A Leisurely Journey on Shimmering Waters," featuring Wushantou Reservoir; "Just the Right Afternoon – A One-Day Lingpo Getaway," linking Jianshanpi Resort; and "Embracing the Glow of the Countryside – A Cozy Two-Day Traditional Earth Oven (Traditional Kiln-Roasting Experience) Getaway," ideal for family trips.
